Sonny Bill Williams joined the All Blacks for their first training session of the week after finally being cleared by Japanese club Panasonic to play in the first two tests of the Rugby Championship.

It's yet to be seen who will form the All Blacks midfield for the first Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies in Sydney, with Ma'a Nonu, Williams and Tamati Ellison in the mix.

Ellison, who would have likely paired Nonu in the centre's had Sonny Bill not been available, says he has no ill feelings about Williams inclusion.

Injured centre Conrad Smith also trained with the team as well as non-squad members Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Craig Clarke and Beauden Barrett.

Williams' availability for the opening two matches of the inaugural Rugby Championship was confirmed after all the necessary arrangements were completed.

The All Blacks coach Steve Hansen praised Williams' new club the Panasonic Wild Knights for allowing the midfielder to join the squad.

Williams will link up with Panasonic at the end of the month.
