The South African loose forward Keegan Daniel will make his first test start this weekend when he lines up at number eight for the Springboks' Rugby Championship opener against Argentina in Cape Town.

27 year old Daniel, 27, who captained the Sharks to the Super Rugby final this season, has made three substitute appearances for his country since making his test debut against Ireland in 2010.

Daniel comes in for Pierre Spies, who will be out of action for up to three months with a finger injury that needs surgery.

Coach Heineke Meyer has also confirmed that hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle will miss the first two weeks of the competition with a knee injury.
