The New Zealand squash star Joelle King has bowed out of the Australian Open in Canberra.

On a day when the seeded players have fallen like dominoes, 9th seeded King was beaten by 8th seeded Australian Kasey Brown, going down in four games.

King will now head home to prepare for next week's Matamata Open, a $35,000 event on the WSA World Tour, which has attracted entries from nine of the world's top 20 players.

The 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th seeds fell yesterday.
