Two dramatic finishes in Friday night NRL action

Two dramatic late drop goals decided both last night's National Rugby League fixtures as the season edges closer to the playoffs and teams fight for their places.

The Melbourne Storm kept in touch with the top of the table after Cooper Cronk's drop goal in the last 10 minutes was enough to edge them to a 19-18 win over the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium in Queensland.

The Broncos are now dangerously poised in seventh place, only two points ahead of the teams outside the playoff spots.

The former New Zealand Warriors player Krisnan Inu's last minute drop helped the Canterbury Bulldogs to a 23-22 win over the Wests Tigers.

Inu calmly slotted the point from about 30 metres out with about a minute of regular game time left as the Bulldogs tightened their grip on the NRL minor premiership with their 12th consecutive win.
