High expectations for NZ Paralympics team

11:40 am on 29 August 2012

The New Zealand Paralympic team management is expecting 18 medals from their team of 24 when the Games start Thursday night.

High Performance Director Mal Humm says their selection criteria was tough - a medal performance in London or put up a top six and be a medal prospect for Rio in 4 years time.

New Zealanders will compete in seven sports, but Humm is expecting most of the success in the pool.

There is high expectations that swimmer Sophie Pascoe will follow up from the four medals she won in Beijing.
