New Zealand swimmer aiming for medals at Paralympics

10:07 am on 30 August 2012

Swimmer Sophie Pascoe, one of New Zealand's brightest prospects at the London Paralympics, begins her campaign tonight.

Four years ago hardly anyone knew Pascoe's name but that changed dramatically after the then 15-year-old swam her way to three golds and one silver at the Beijing Olympics.

Now 19, Pascoe is expected to improve on that medal haul in London and her coach Rolly Crichton says that extra pressure has fuelled her desire to succeed.

Pascoe will compete in five events in London; the Women's 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley.
