The Christchurch swimmer Sophie Pascoe has won the gold medal in the 100 metres butterfly at the London Paralympics, her second gold and third medal of the Games.
Pascoe set a world record in qualifying then broke the record again as the 19-year-old stormed home in a new world mark of one minute 4.43 seconds - a massive 4.12 seconds clear of the second placed Pole, Oliwia Jablonska.
Pascoe now needs just one more gold medal to equal the three golds and a silver she secured in Beijing four years ago, and she has three more events to go, starting with the 100 backstroke on Tuesday.
Wellington's Mary Fisher also won bronze in the 50 metre freestyle final, to go with the silver she won on debut in the 100 metres.
New Zealand's currently top equal in the pool with Brazil, Australia and Spain, and 15th on the overall medal table with two gold, two silver and three bronze.
Waiuku's Michael Johnson finished just 0.2 of a point outside the medals in the Mixed R5 10 metre Air Rifle Prone SH2.
