Newby to retire from rugby

The former Highlanders rugby player Craig Newby has been forced to retire because of a persistent knee injury.

The 33-year-old loose forward has been playing in Britain since 2008, helping Leicester win the Premiership in 2009 and 2010 and captained them in last years final.

Newby, who won three All Blacks caps, says it's been a fantastic journey and he wouldn't change a thing, except for maybe looking after his knees better.

Newby says he's keen to stay working in rugby in England.
