India has thrashed New Zealand's Davis Cup tennis team in the Asia/Oceania Group I relegation playoff in Chandigarh, in India.
India sealed the tie 3-0 yesterday with victory in the doubles but went on to thrash New Zealand 5-0 on the final day, with Yuki Bhambri beating Rubin Statham 2-6 7-5 7-5 in the reverse singles while Sanam Singh beat Artem Sitak 6-4 6-1 in the fifth match.
New Zealand will now play away to Chinese Taipei on the 19th to the 21st of October in a bid to remain in Asia/Oceania Group I.
