The England cricket team will tour India next month without Kevin Pietersen after the controversial middle-order batsman was left out of the squad despite attempts to heal a rift between management and player.
Pietersen, who averages nearly 50 from 88 test matches, was dropped last month after sending controversial text messages to members of the opposing South Africa side.
Newcomers in the England squad include the 29-year-old Somerset batsman Nick Compton, a grandson of the legendary batsman Dennis Compton.
