Small reward for tough year for Villumsen

A small piece of satisfaction for the New Zealand cyclist Linda Villumsen who won a bronze medal in the time trial at the Road World Championships in the Netherlands.

The former Danish rider won her fourth World Championship Time Trial medal, finishing behind defending champion and pro team-mate Judith Arndt of Germany and American Evelyn Stevens.

The 36-year-old Arndt beat Stevens by 33 seconds, with Villumsen another seven seconds back.

Villumsen previously won two bronze medals for her native Denmark and a silver for New Zealand last year.

While a world championship medal isn't to be scoffed at, Villumsen says her aim for this year was the Olympics where she finished fourth.
