Illness disrupts Breakers' build-up

Illness has rocked the New Zealand Breakers camp ahead of Friday's Australian National Basketball league season opener against the Perth Wildcats in Auckland.

Forwards Dillon Boucher and Will Hudson missed training with sickness, upsetting the two-time champions preparations for the grand final rematch at the North Shore Events Centre.

Coach Andrej Lemanis concedes there's no guarantees the two players will have recovered in time for Friday's match but he says disruption is something the Breakers are used to.

The illnesses have added to the Breakers woes with Tom Abercrombie's troublesome ankle still not 100 percent, however the star swingman will play on Friday night.

Abercrombie is recovering from off-season ankle surgery and concedes the longer than expected rehab has been the most frustrating experience of his career.

He says he'll adjust his game until he's back to full health, but he says his ankle still has a way to go.
