Breakers flop at home as Wildcats take revenge

10:04 am on 6 October 2012

The Perth Wildcats have gained revenge in their grand final rematch with the New Zealand Breakers, winning the season opener by 21 points - 93-72 in Auckland.

Perth dominated the back-to-back Australian basketball champions, winning every quarter and at one point going on an 18-point run.

The Breakers looked to be missing their shooting centre Gary Wilkinson though new US import Will Hudson showed what he has to offer in the paint with dogged defence and several turnovers.

But while the veteran CJ Bruton slated their team defence after the game, the attack that was also missing and the reigning champions need to find some offensive rhythm for their next home game against Adelaide at Vector Arena.

In Friday night's other game, the Wollongong Hawks beat the Sydney Kings at home, 79 to 76.
