The smallest of mistakes has cost the New Zealand rally driver Haydon Paddon any chance of winning the Super2000 World Championship.
Paddon took a two-minute lead into the final day of Rally France, and even though he drove conservatively, he went wide on one corner and ended up in a ditch.
The retirement means he is now out of championship contention with just one round remaining.
Paddon topped the standings after the New Zealand Rally in June, but has had a wretched run since.
Afterwards Paddon apologised to fans saying the smallest of mistakes can stuff up a whole year.
