The American golfer Bo Van Pelt has won the inaugural $2 million Perth International with a dominant performance, while New Zealand's Michael Hendry finished fourth after leading at the conclusion of the first round.

Hendry ended the tournament with a three under par 69 for nine under overall - seven shots behind Van Pelt's 16 under. It's the 33-year-old North Shore local's best finish on the European Tour.

Starting the final round with a one-stroke lead, Van Pelt was in control and posted a final round of five under the card to secure the win by two shots from fellow American and world number 10 Jason Dufner.

It's Van Pelt's first win of the year and he dedicated the title to caddie Scot Steele, who died in the United States on Friday after suffering a heart attack.

Portugal's Alejandro Canizares was outright third at 11 under.
