The big-hitting West Indian batsman Marlon Samuels has signed a deal to play for the Melbourne Renegades in Australian cricket's Twenty20 Big Bash League season this summer.

Samuels will join Sri Lankan great Muthiah Muralitharan as the second international on the Renegades' list.

Samuels enjoyed a man-of-the-match performance in the World Twenty20 final, where he netted 78 from 56 balls.

The Melbourne Renegades chief executive, Stuart Coventry, says the charismatic Jamaican would fill the number three role with the bat.
