The Wests Tigers have appointed Mick Potter as their new National Rugby League coach on a two-year deal.

Potter, has been coaching in Britain and Europe in the Super League since 2007.

He'll take over from Tim Sheens, whose 10-year reign at the club ended last month when he was relieved of his duties after the side failed to make the 2012 finals.

Potter, who has coached Catalan, St Helens and Bradford, beat candidates including Melbourne assistant coach Kevin Walters.
