The Wellington Phoenix football coach Ricki Herbert is demanding that diving be retrospectively punished in the A-League.
His All Whites defender Ben Sigmund was sent off in Saturday night's controversial 3-1 loss at Adelaide, and afterwards his captain Andrew Durante labelled Adelaide's Jeronimo Neumann a cheat.
Video replays suggest the Reds player clearly dived when tackled by Sigmund, and Herbert's confident the team not only has solid grounds to appeal the red card, but the judiciary should act against Neumann.
The coach says he'd be furious if it was his player diving and the A-League should make a statement about it as well as wiping out Sigmund's sending-off.
The Phoenix's next game is another road trip to the Melbourne Victory in a rare Monday night fixture.
