The World Anti-Doping Agency has applauded the investigation of the US Anti-Doping Agency which placed cyclist Lance Armstrong at the heart of the biggest doping programme ever in sport, and says the punishment meted out to Armstrong was "right and proper".
WADA says it will not appeal against a decision to strip US cyclist Lance Armstrong of his seven Tour de France victories and ban him from the sport for life for doping.
The organisation says the decision was made after considering the US Anti-Doping Agency dossier and says the case by USADA was thorough and it has no concerns about the process and overwhelming weight of evidence.
The WADA president John Fahey says the actions of USADA have highlighted the need for athletes to be able to come forward with evidence that will help rid sport of doping cheats.
