Snedeker just misses 59, Westwood joint leader in China

The American golfer Brandt Snedeker has come within centimetres of becoming the first man to shoot a round of 59 on the European Tour.

Snedeker narrowly missed a birdie putt on the last hole as he recorded a third round 12 under par 60 at the World Golf Championship tournament at Mission Hills in China.

Snedeker is in 7th place 13 under for the tournament.

The Englishman Lee Westwood carded a third round 61 giving him a share of the lead with the South African Louis Oosthuizen at 18 under par.

The multiple major winners Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els are at 15 and 14 under respectively.
