Braswell dumped by Tigers

The wannabe Tall Black basketball player Kevin Braswell has been sacked by his Australian club, the struggling Melbourne Tigers.

Braswell, who was formerly with the New Zealand Breakers in their inaugural championship run two seasons ago, got the axe just a day after the Tigers' first win of the ANBL season.

Persistent knee problems haven't helped Braswell's case, with the 33-year-old import being replaced at the Tigers by the 23-year-old former top-10 NBA draft pick Jonny Flynn - also a point guard.

Braswell is bidding to become a New Zealand international. He's awaiting confirmation of his residency before he can take out the lone naturalised spot allowed under FIBA rules - though Braswell has to take the place of the incumbent Casey Frank first.
