Taylor and Ellis spend time in hospital

11:05 am on 6 November 2012

The New Zealand cricketers Ross Taylor and Andrew Ellis were hospitalised following Monday's loss to Sri Lanka in the second one-day international in Pallekele.

Both displayed symptoms consistent with gastro-enteritis although Taylor did manage to play.

The players showed signs of dehydration and it was decided by the team medical staff that treatment at the local hospital was the best course of action.

The pair spent a few hours at the hospital.

Taylor is expected to be fit to play in tonight's third match although a decision on Ellis will be made closer to the time of the match.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Brendan McCullum is also doubtful for tonight's match, having missed the second game with a stiff lower back.
