The hosts' target was adjusted to 197, which they reached with 11 balls to spare with Tillakaratne Dilshan making an unbeaten 102 in his 250th international.

The Black Caps were in the game with Sri Lanka 73 for three but Dilshan guided them home with his 14th one-day century.

Sri Lanka now lead the five-match series 2-nil with the fourth game at Hambantota on Saturday.
