New Zealand Rugby League's new High Performance Manager, Tony Iro, doesn't expect any issues gaining widespread acceptance in Australia.

Iro has taken up the role after leaving the Warriors when Matthew Elliott was appointed head coach.

Iro will focus on the elite end of the sport aiming at the Kiwis defence of their World Cup title next year.

Iro expects to spend a lot of time in Australia in the new year working with Kiwi players and says he'll have the support of NRL clubs as the Australian Rugby League Commission is keen for the international game to prosper.

Iro, who will continue as a Kiwis assistant coach, replaces Ruben Wiki at the NZRL, he's now a strength and conditioning coach with the Warriors.
