Breakers thrashed by Perth

7:15 am on 24 November 2012

The Breakers' run of seven straight wins in the Australian basketball league has come to a grounding halt, the back to back defending champions beaten by 25 points by the Perth Wildcats in Western Australia.

Perth ended their own three-game losing streak with an impressive 89-64 win.

The home side steadily improved their advantage throughout the game and out-rebounded the Breakers 41-23.

Cedric Jackson hit 15 points for the Breakers with Will Hudson adding 12 and Corey Webster 11 in a season-best performance.

Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis simply felt his team didn't want to work as hard as the Wildcats did.

He says they played with a greater desperation and like a team that really needed to win that game - and his Breakers didn't match that desperation.

He says to get smashed on the boards as they did shows that his side wasn't prepared to play as hard as they were.

The Breakers lost to Perth in their opening match of the season.

They now have seven wins and two losses and drop to second in the standings.
