Sports Illustrated magazine has named LeBron James of the Miami Heat its Sportsman of the Year for 2012.
In an outstanding year, 27-year-old James won his first NBA championship, his third league Most Valuable Player award, named Player of the NBA finals and a won gold medal with the United States at the London Olympics.
James is only the 6th basketballer to win the award, which began in 1954.
