Taylor should remain Black Caps captain says former coach

The former national coach David Trist believes Ross Taylor's still the right person to lead the New Zealand Cricket side despite indications he may be about to lose the job to Brendon McCullum.

New Zealand Cricket's conducting a review of the largely unsucccessful Sri Lankan tour and are due to announce the outcome of that before naming the side to tour South Africa later this month.

Taylor took over from Dan Vettori after last year's World Cup edging out McCullum for the role.

But after the departure of John Wright as Black Caps coach in August and the appointment of former Otago coach Mike Hesson who has a strong connection with McCullum questions quickly surfaced about Taylor's future in the role.

Trist says Taylor has carried the side in recent times and deserves to keep the job.
