Legendary legspinner Shane Warne's apologised to Australia test skipper Michael Clarke after causing a media flurry about a potential Ashes Test comeback.

Australia's record wicket-taker says his family life came first these days but indicated in a Sydney Daily Telegraph interview he'd consider a comeback if his good friend Clarke asked him.

However, Warne is now downplaying his comments saying he was asked could he play, not would he play.

In the interview Warne, who retired from test cricket almost six years ago, says he doesn't think his form would be a concern if he were to make a comeback.
