Monterrey threat lurks for Chelsea in Japan

11:29 am on 10 December 2012

The Mexican football side Monterrey has beaten South Koreans Ulsan Hyundai 3-1 to set up a Club World Cup semi-final against European champions Chelsea in Japan.

Argentina forward Cesar Delgado scored twice for Monterrey as the slick-passing Mexicans dominated the Asian Champions League winners Ulsan in snow-sprinkled Toyota, showing enough to suggest they will be no pushovers for Chelsea.

African champions Al-Ahly beat Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima 2-1 in blizzard-like conditions in the second quarter-final and will face Brazil's Corinthians in the last four.
