The former Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken will become the national netball coach of Singapore next August.

Aitken, the current Coaching Director for Netball New Zealand and Northern Mystics coach, will take up the position of Technical Director and coach for Singapore after the conclusion of the 2013 ANZ Championship season.

Aitken says she's excited to continue coaching in the international arena.

Netball New Zealand chief executive Raelene Castle says the contribution Ruth has given to netball in New Zealand has been outstanding and the organisation wishes her well.

Singapore are currently ranked 18th in the world following their success at the 2012 Asian Championships where they were crowned champions.
