Two Black Sticks picked up in Hockey India League

Two Black Sticks strikers have been picked up in the Hockey India League auction, for the inaugural tournament next month, being run along the lines of cricket's popular Indian Premier League.

Nick Wilson has been picked up by the Ranchi Rhinos and will get a pay check for $28,000 and Simon Child will play with the Delhi Wave Riders for around $23,000.

Dean Couzins and Phil Burrows were among seven New Zealand players who missed out.

The world's leading field hockey stars will turn out for five franchised-based teams next month.
