Sangakarra chalks up milestone

Kumar Sangakkara has become only the 11th batsman and the second Sri Lankan to score 10,000 test runs.

Sangakkara passed the milestone on the opening day of the second cricket test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground but it's been the only cause of celebration for the tourists who've crumbled to be all out for 156, after winning the toss and opting to bat.

Sangakkara reached the 10,000 tests runs in 195 innings, equalling the record previously shared by Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar - but Sangakkara was out for 58 as Sri Lanka fell for 156.

The only other Sri Lankan to have scored more than 10,000 test runs is current skipper Mahela Jayawardene.

Bowling for Australia, Mitchell Johnson took four for 63.
