The New Zealand cricket captain says despite the Twenty20 series loss to South Africa the progress the team has made in that format has been considerable over the last two weeks.

The Brendon McCullum led Black caps have lost the decisive third game by 33 runs in Port Elizabeth.

The tourists will now focus on the longer version of the game with the specialist Twenty20 players heading home.

McCullum says the series has had its positives.

The two-test series begins on January the 2nd.
