The third-seeded former champion Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium eased past the Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets at the Auckland women's tennis Classic on New Year's Eve.
The 2010 winner Wickmayer won 7-6 6-2 and is now likely to face eighth seed Mona Barthel for a place in the quarter-finals.
