Local hope Marina Erakovic has advanced to the second round of the ASB tennis classic in Auckland after beating Stephanie Dubois of Canada 6-2, 6-1.
It's the first time the New Zealand number one has reached the second round since 2009.
Erakovic will play American Jamie Hampton of the USA, who upset the defending champion Zheng Jie yesterday, and is ranked 87 in the world.
