The 15-time grand slam winner Serena Williams has stormed into the quarter-finals of the Brisbane International tennis tournament.
Williams produced her 33rd singles win in 34 matches since the start of June by defeating Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 6-2,6-2 in 60 minutes.
Meanwhile the world number two Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the tournament due to a collarbone injury.
The French Open champion also pulled out of an exhibition match against Caroline Wozniacki last month in Seoul because of a sore collarbone.
