New Zealand cricketers overwhelmed on first day at Cape Town

The South African cricketers are 252 for three in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 45 at stumps on the first day of the first test at Newlands.

After New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat Kane Williamson, with 13 ,was the only New Zealand batsman to reach double figures as the Black Caps were bowled out within 20 overs.

New Zealand's total is the eighth-lowest in test history, the touring side's third lowest total.

South African fast bowler Vernon Philander completed figures of five for seven while fellow quick Dale Steyn captured his 300th test wicket when he bowled Doug Bracewell for two.
