The national tennis champion has made an ignominious first round exit at the Auckland Open, Dan King-Turner losing in straight sets to Canadian qualifier Jesse Levine.
Levine's match practice showed as he raced into the second round, 6-2 6-2 in just under an hour.
King-Turner lost 9 straight games before finally holding his serve again in the second set... but it was too late by then and he only won one more game before bowing out.
Unlike the other two wins by qualifiers today, it's not exactly an upset as King-Turner was only in on a wildcard and Levine, at world number 104, is ranked 272 places above him.
Little-known Igor Sijsling started the upsets, knocking out fellow Dutchman Robin Haase before another qualifier from Australia, Greg Jones, continued his dream run, upsetting the sixth seed Jurgen Melzer 7-6 6-2 - a player ranked 344 places above him, currrently at 29 in the world rankings.
But it could be a bridge too far for the last qualifier in the evening feature, the German Benjamin Becker is up against the French wildcard Gael Monfils - the former world number 7.
