The New Zealand striker Chris Wood hit a first half hat-trick as Leicester routed Bristol City 4-nil at Ashton Gate to boost their bid for promotion to the English football Premier League.

Wood's treble took his goal tally to six in three games since joining the Foxes from West Bromwich Albion after a successful loan spell at Millwall and lifted Leicester up to third in the Championship table in the process.

Leicester are just two points behind second placed Hull, who lost 3-1 to visiting Sheffield Wednesday in the day's late game, as the race for automatic promotion gathers pace.
