Otago have claimed a spot in the lucrative Champions League later this year after winning the domestic Twenty20 cricket title in Dunedin yesterday.
The top qualifiers, who lost just one match all competition, scored a 4 wicket victory over Wellington in the decider.
After deciding to bat first, Wellington made the worst possible start with 3 of their top order batsmen scoring ducks, while Jesse Ryder was dismissed for 30.
Luke Woodcock made an unbeaten 40 as Wellington finished on 143 for 9.
Neil Broom guided Otago through to their target with 60, with the homeside reaching their target with an over and a half to spare.
Otago will now represent New Zealand at the Champions League qualifying phase in September.
