Bastareaud back in French squad

Centre Mathieu Bastareaud is back in the French rugby squad after a near three-year absence.

Bastareaud is having a very good season with Top 14 leaders Toulon and appears to be a reformed character since his move from Stade Francais.

He fell from grace after admitting to lying about a late night incident in Wellington in 2009 when he claimed to having been assualted while out on the town.

It later turned out he'd fallen over a table in his room having returned in a drunken state.

Coach Philippe says the 24-year-old still has a long way to go to make it from a 33-man squad to the 23-man squad for the Six Nations.

Bastareaud did play the 2010 Six Nations, but since then has failed to add to his 9 Test caps.
