The Black Sox captain Rhys Casley has been cleared to lead the team into next month's World Softball Champs in Auckland.

Several players were named in the world champs squad in December subject to being passed fit to play.

Coach Eddie Kohlahse set the past weekend as the deadline for those players to prove their readiness and Casley is the last to get a clearance.

After undergoing shoulder surgery last September, his recovery was slower than anticipated but with three weeks until the event he's played in two recent tournaments allowing Kohlasse to include him.
