Southee and Rutherford called in for second ODI

Experienced bowler Tim Southee and batsman Hamish Rutherford have been called into the New Zealand cricket team for Wednesday's second One Day International at Napier's McLean Park.

The pair have been called in for the match due to injuries to bowler Mitchell McClenaghan and opening batsman Martin Guptill, who last night scored a heroic 27 to see New Zealand to victory in the first match of the series.

Guptill had earlier pulled up with a hamstring strain which saw him retire hurt, while McClenaghan suffered a side strain after taking four for 56 in his bowling stint.

McClenaghan will have an MRI today to determine the extent of his injury but will miss the rest of the one day series while Guptill will be out for Wednesday.

Rutherford returns to the squad after an impressive Black Caps debut in last week's Twenty20 series, while Southee has just returned to cricket after recovering a thumb injury.
