The 30-year-old American John Merrick has won his first PGA Tour title in a playoff at his hometown course.
Merrick beat compatriot Charlie Beljan at the second extra hole to take out the Northern Trust Open in California.
Merrick was born in Long Beach and played Riviera Country Club regularly while studying at the nearby University of California in Los Angeles.
Hordes of 'Bruins' fans roared him to victory.
