Manchester United into quarter-finals of FA Cup

11:41 am on 20 February 2013

Manchester United have beaten Reading 2-1 at Old Trafford to reach the quarter-finals of English football's FA Cup.

The Portugese winger Nani came on just before half-time to inspire United to their win, scoring their first after 69 minutes and then setting up Hernandez three minutes later.

The Premier League leaders dominated the match but struggled to make the breakthrough in the face of resolute Reading defending and a fine performance by goalkeeper Adam Federici.

Reading scored nine minutes from time, but the hosts, bolstered by the reassuring presence of experienced Serbian Nemanja Vidic at the heart of their defence, hung on.

United, record 11-times FA Cup winners but who have not lifted the trophy since 2004, will play second-tier Middlesbrough or European champions Chelsea in the quarter-finals.
