The just-deposed world tennis number one Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from the Dubai Open with a bruised heel, paving the way for Serena Williams to hold on to the world No.1 ranking until next month.
Azarenka, the only unbeaten leading player on the tour this year, beat Williams in the final of the Qatar Open on Sunday, but had been playing part of the tournament with painkillers.
