The New Zealand golf sensation Lydia Ko is on the leaderboard going into the second round of the Thailand Open, but the American Stacey Lewis stole the show on the opening day in Bangkok.

Lewis, the world number three, emulated Ko's opening round at last week's Australian Open, scorching round in 63 to take a three shot lead.

Ko is tied for 10th after the 15-year-old shot a three under par 69.

It was a bad day for the world number one Yani Seng. The defending champion blew out to a 75 and she's under pressure to make the cut from 54th equal place.
