Thomson off to Japan

Adam Thomson has ended months of speculation as to where he'll next ply his trade, after the 29-test All Black chose not stay with the Highlanders.

The Rugby World Cup winner has signed a two-year deal with the Canon Eagles in Japan, beginning when its season kicks off in August.

Thomson has been the cornerstone of the Highlanders for the past five years, the loose forward playing all but six of the 71 games played by the franchise in that time.

The 31-year-old will join former Highlanders team-mates Callum Bruce and Kane Thompson as well as former All Black Isaia Toeava at the club.
