Third game at Eden Park, third loss for the New Zealand Warriors.
The Sydney Roosters were pushed close but it was the same old story in their National Rugby League clash at the Auckland home of rugby.
The Warriors trailed 6-0 at half-time and 16-0 just after the break as the visitors ran in two tries.
That sparked the home side into life and the Warriors scored three tries of their own, coming back to within two points with five minutes remaining after Pita Godinet, Shaun Johnson and Bill Tupou all crossed.
But goalkicker Johnson shanked the conversion and 16-14 it stayed to the Roosters.
The Warriors have now lost 10 straight games since last year.
