The Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards says he almost quit rugby after being overlooked for the British and Irish Lions coaching staff by New Zealand's Warren Gatland.

Gatland, who's head coach, has picked England's Andy Farrell as his defensive assistant.

Edwards says he contemplated leaving Britain for Australian rugby league but says Wales Six Nations triump justified his decision to stay.
